The Tết holiday is far more than a simple transition from one year to the next—it is a profound celebration of reunion, joy, and peace. This cherished time offers a moment to pause, reflect on the year that has passed, and embrace the possibilities of a fresh, promising beginning.
At the heart of this celebration lies Gói Tết and Trao Xuân, two intertwined concepts that embody the essence of Tết. Gói Tết, or “Tết Bundle,” can be seen in multiple ways. It represents the thoughtful gift packages prepared for close friends and family, filled with best wishes for the new year. It also symbolizes the act of wrapping up the old—letting go of the past to make space for the new. Beyond these, Gói Tết captures the series of activities that prepare us for Tết, getting ready for a fresh start.
Meanwhile, Trao Xuân, or “Sharing Spring Blessings,” highlights the act of offering heartfelt wishes for a joyful and peaceful year ahead. It transforms gift-giving into a meaningful expression of connection and goodwill. Together, Gói Tết, trao Xuân creates a harmonious narrative of gathering and giving, celebrating Tết as a season of abundance, renewal, and shared prosperity.
The design draws inspiration from the concepts of Gói Tết, trao Xuân, reflecting the heartfelt rituals of preparing for Tết while blending Vietnamese and Japanese traditions into a cohesive narrative of connection and cultural harmony.
The visuals begin with the family tradition of making bánh chưng, symbolizing unity and the warmth of shared effort. This transitions to the vibrant act of buying mai (apricot blossoms), representing renewal and hope for the new year. The inclusion of Furoshiki wrapping adds a mindful and sustainable touch, transforming gift-giving into an intentional gesture of care. Finally, Maneki-neko bridges the two cultures, serving as a shared symbol of luck and prosperity. Together, these elements capture the spirit of Tết as a celebration of tradition and generosity while honoring the beauty of cultural exchange.
