Người là một bóng chim khuê tú is a poetry collection by writer Nguyễn Thiên Ngân, brought to life through a visual language built on softness, restraint, and emotional clarity. The project explores how illustration, layout, pacing, and space can quietly support a poetic voice without overshadowing it.
The illustration direction began with a simple intention: let the drawings feel like breath. Each visual is created with minimal, fluid lines — forms that appear, dissolve, and reappear, mirroring the fleeting emotional states present in the poems. Instead of depicting the text literally, the illustrations follow an intuitive approach, responding to tone, rhythm, and silence. The looseness of the strokes, the gentle distortions, and the airy composition invite readers to inhabit the spaces between words.
The visual system extends into the book’s layout and flow. White space becomes an active element, creating pauses and a soft reading rhythm. Images and text move together, forming a quiet dialogue that guides the reader through moments of stillness and subtle emotional shifts.
Material and production choices were designed to echo this sensitivity. The coptic binding allows the book to lie completely open, emphasizing openness and readability, while giving the object a sense of lightness. The handwritten elements add an intimate layer — a personal voice that bridges poetry and illustration, bringing the reader closer to the emotional core of the work.
Người là một bóng chim khuê tú is, at its heart, an exploration of presence and delicacy — where visual form supports language, and illustration becomes a companion to the quiet inner worlds of the poems.
